Sweet and Easy Caramel Apple Recipe

Here’s my pick of the day!
An easy way to add sweetness and delight to your healthy and delicious red apples.
Candy and Caramel Apples

Just like SanFo Apple Treats at the malls before, but this one you can easily make at home by following this simple recipe J

CARAMEL APPLE RECIPE (by Kittencals Kitchen)
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 can (14 ounce) condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
12 medium apples
12 wooden (BBQ) sticks

Making Caramel Apple

1. Insert a wooden or BBQ stick into each apple.
2. Combine the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Cook and stir until a thermometer reads 248 degree (firm ball stage) about 30-40 minutes. Based on my first attempt, you must strictly follow the required temperature and cooking time, otherwise your caramel will turn out softer or won’t coat that much on your apples.
4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
5. Dip each apple into the hot caramel mixture until well-coated.
6. Sprinkle with nuts, candies, or marshmallows if desired.
7. Set on buttered wax paper to cool.

Caramel and Candy Apples may look similar, but the process of making them are different. Candy Apples are made by coating a sweet sugar mixture of these two basic ingredients:

1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup

* You can also flavorings like cinnamon and vanilla.
* For a more red color to your apple, you may add red food coloring.
* You can also do rainbow candy apples, by doing more batches of the recipe or dividing the mixture, then add different food coloring to each.

1. Insert a wooden or BBQ stick into each apple.
2. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup and 1/2 cup of water and cook over medium-high heat, gently stirring until sugar dissolves.
3. Bring to boil and cook, without stirring, until syrup is light golden in color and thermometer reads 350 degrees F.
4. Remove from heat and stir in your flavorings like cinnamon and vanilla.
5. Dip each apple into the mixture until well-coated. Remember to do this very quickly
6. Set on baking sheet with nonstick spray.
